What's DEX Referral program?

Published on Jul 21, 2025Updated on Sep 4, 202513 min read17

The DEX Referral Program is a Web3-native rewards mechanism that helps you expand your trading network while earning passive income. When people you invite trade on OKX DEX, you’ll earn a commission from their UI service fees—automatically credited to your wallet.

The program supports Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, and other EVM-compatible chains.

Why should I invite/accept the invitation?

As an inviter:

  • Fully decentralized: No platform custody—commissions are paid instantly to your self-custodial wallet.

  • Web3-friendly: Open to all users—no identity verification required.

  • High commission rate: Earn up to 40% of your invitees’ trading fees.

  • Transparent and traceable: All referral and commission data is recorded on-chain.

  • Instant payouts: Commissions are distributed to your wallet as soon as your invitee completes a trade.

As an invitee:

  • Simply use an inviter’s referral code to enjoy trading fee discounts on OKX DEX.

Please upgrade the App to version 6.134.0 and above, and update the plug-in wallet to version 3.69.0 and above to ensure the normal use of the referral function.

Commission calculation

The calculation rule of the inviter's commission rate is:

Actual commission rate = Total commission rate - Invitee trading discount rate

As an inviter, your invitation level will determine the total commission rate you can enjoy, and you can set the invitee trading discount rate for invitees yourself.

Example:

  • If your total commission rate is 30% and the invitee discount rate is 10% , then your actual commission rate will be 20% .

    • When the invitee completes a DEX transaction with a fee of 10 USDC;

    • Inviter commission = 10 USDC × (30% - 10%) = 2 USDC.

Referral levels and evaluation criteria

The OKX DEX Referral Program consists of 6 levels. The higher the inviter’s level, the greater the total commission rate they can enjoy:

  • Default level is Level 1 with a 20% commission rate;

  • As the level increases, the commission rate gradually rises, up to a maximum of 50%;

  • Specifically: Level 2 = 30%, Level 3 = 35%, Level 4 = 40%, Level 5 = 45%, Level 6 = 50%.

Inviters can allocate 0%–20% of their commission as a discount to invitees, incentivizing greater participation.

Referral levels are regularly reviewed and adjusted based on overall performance across all codes linked to the inviter’s wallet. The main evaluation indicators are:

  • Monthly trading volume generated by invitees

  • Number of invitees completing their first trade (unique trading addresses)

Inviter's commission

  • Only token trades on OKX DEX with UI service fees generate commissions. Click here to view the fee table.

  • When an invitee completes a transaction, commissions are automatically rebated in fee tokens and sent directly to the inviter’s OKX Web3 wallet used for creating the referral code. The payout is credited to the corresponding on-chain address where the trade occurs.

  • No commission is generated if:

    • Invitation wallet or referral code is frozen

    • Invitee traded tokens that don't incur UI service fee

Upgrade mechanism

Referral levels are evaluated daily at UTC+0, and the cumulative data of the month will be counted . Updates are usually completed within 4-6 hours. If your cumulative monthly metrics meet the next-level threshold, you’ll be upgraded immediately and enjoy the higher commission rate.

Downgrade mechanism

Levels are reviewed on the first day of each month. If you fail to meet your current level’s requirements for three consecutive months, your account will be downgraded. When downgraded, the invitee’s discount rate remains unchanged, but your commission rate will adjust to the latest total commission rate.

How do I create and share a referral code?

How do I create a referral code?

DEX referral will be rolled with beta testing starting from 25th August 2025. During the beta testing, the referral code creation will be open to allowlisted users only. You can apply for the Beta whitelist here.

  1. On the OKX Wallet webpage, select Connect Wallet at the top menu to connect with your OKX seed phrase wallet. Please note that private key wallets, hardware wallets, and other wallet types aren’t supported at this time. The address generated by this wallet will be used as the commission address to receive commissions.

  2. To create your first referral code, go to the DEX Referral dashboard and select Create referral code to generate a custom code.

    Create your referral code

  3. You can create a custom referral code using 5–15 alphanumeric or numeric referral codes. Each wallet account can generate up to 20 referral codes. Once created, it can't be changed or deleted.

    • For each code, you can set 0-20% invitee discount (whole numbers only) and the wallet bound to the code enjoys a service fee discount when trading. While your overall commission rate may change with your referral level, the invitee discount you set will remain fixed. For more details, refer here.

    • The first code you create will be set as default, but you can change the default anytime from the Codes menu in the Referral dashboard.

    • You can also add private notes to your codes for easier classification and management.

      Customize your referral code

How do I share a referral code?

After creating the referral code, you can share the invitation link and invite friends to use your referral code to trade on OKX DEX in the following ways:

  1. Share invitation link from the Referral dashboard: you can directly copy and share your default referral code that you can find from the top area of the Referral dashboard.

Copy the link and share it where necessary

If you want to share a different referral code, go to Referral dashboard > Codes, then copy the link from the operation menu of the chosen code.

Click the Action button on the row of your preferred referral code and copy the link

  2. Easily add or edit referral code parameters directly in a shared link: no need to constantly switch wallets or visit the referral dashboard. Just append your referral code to the link to generate your exclusive invite.

    General rules:

    • When you share the supported share link types listed below in OKX Web3, add

?ref= your invitation code, so others can receive your invitation after clicking the link.

    • Example: After adding the referral code CODE123 to the link, it becomes https://web3.okx.com/ul/joindex?ref=OKXDEX You may manually add or change to other referral code in the link.

Supported share link types

  • General invitation link : https://web3.okx.com/ul/joindex

    • This is a general referral page link, which is consistent with the format of the link you copied and shared from the Referral dashboard. Example of a referral code added to a general invitation link:

      https://web3.okx.com/ul/joindex?ref=CODE123

  • Feature page share link

    • Click on the Share button on the page

    • Copy the link in the share pop-up window

    • At the end of the link add ?ref= your referral code
Note: if you have created a referral code before, the sharing link will automatically include your default referral code. You can directly modify the content after ?ref= to use other referral codes.

What are the binding rules?

Wallet types that support binding referral codes

  • Seed phrase wallet

  • Private key wallet (Currently only supports SOLANA and EVM networks)

Multiple chain addresses (such as ETH addresses and SOL addresses) under the same wallet account will be bound to the same referral code.

In-device rules

  • Each wallet can only bind one invitation code on a single device.

  • After binding, the invitation code is stored locally on the device and cannot be modified or replaced .

Multi-device rule

  • The same wallet can be bound to different invitation codes on different devices.

  • Invitation codes for different devices are independent of each other and will not be synchronized .

  • Transactions generated by the device are counted towards the invitation code bound to that device.

What situations will affect the invitation commission?

Violations

To protect the rights of all participants and maintain a fair and transparent referral ecosystem, certain behaviors by the inviter are considered violations:

  • Offering discounts beyond system settings through offline cashback or similar means.

  • Conducting commission-related trades outside the platform.

  • Any attempt to disrupt or manipulate the normal commission mechanism.

If such violations are detected, the inviter’s address will be permanently blacklisted, losing eligibility to create or use referral codes. The original wallet address will no longer receive rebates. This safeguard is in place to protect genuine users and ensure the sustainable growth of the referral program.

Invitee-side reasons

No service fees generated

  • If the invitee trades pairs that don’t incur UI service fees, no commission will be produced.

Loss of binding relationship
Invitation relationships may be lost in the following cases:

  • The invitee changes devices or reinstalls the app without re-binding the invitation code to the same wallet.

  • The invitee deletes a browser plugin wallet without re-binding the code.

  • The invitee clears browser data (including cookies) without re-binding the code.

  • The invitee trades using a browser’s incognito/private mode.

How can I avoid losing the commission or referral relationship?

Invitees are advised to:

  • Safely store their bound referral code information.

  • Re-bind the referral code with the original wallet after changing devices or reinstalling the app.

  • Avoid using incognito mode for transactions.
